Weekend recap

In addition to all the planning I need to do, I've got two weeks to get the Millennicon program book ready for the printers. So even though it's been a long week at work and I'm still trying to fight off a cold, I didn't get to sleep in and veg out this weekend. I worked, ran errands, and did some housework.

Considering all my work, I was tempted to skip bowling and my book club meeting. It's what I would normally would have done. Just canceled everything and worked til I dropped. It's what I know to do, but not necessarily the best way to handle things. I do have a lot of work to accomplish in the next two months, but if I plan things right I should be able to do it all without driving myself to complete exhaustion. So I worked yesterday and this morning, then went out and enjoyed myself.

I'm really glad I did. I got my first turkey (three strikes in a row) and I now have a new highest game score ever of 164!!! Unfortunately, I left my camera at home or there would be a picture of the scoreboard right here. I did bring home a copy of the scoring sheet. We only won two points, but we had a great time.

Then it was off to my book club meeting. We take turns selecting each month's book. The theme is authors from other countries. We then meet at a restaurant that ties in to the book. This month's book was Becoming Madam Mao by Anchee Min and we met at Ying's Teahouse and Yum Yum. I just love that name! It was an interesting book and a wonderful meal. I had the Tofu Skin Roll (minced pork wrapped in tofu and deep fried), San-Xian Dumplings (minced shrimp & pork), Veggie Tofu Dumplings, side of steamed rice, and a wonderful pot of herbal tea. Their tea selection is fabulous. The food was great and the prices low. I'm always on the lookout for vegetarian-friendly restaurants and this is a good one. We've had several Chinese restaurants refuse to substitute tofu for the meat in certain dishes. I stayed after the meeting to chat with our waitress and the owner about doing substitutions and that's not a problem. Yes, they do have a number of vegetarian dishes already on the menu, but Michael almost always wants one of the meat dishes changed to vegetarian. I can't wait to take Michael and Julius there!

Great job on the bowling game!!! And it sounds like you found a keeper in that Chinese restaurant.

I'm glad you are taking care of yourself. Everything will get done because it has to. Slow and steady wins the race, Turtle ;)
