I've wanted to go to one of the local knitting groups for a long time now, but I'm so uncomfortable in social situations with strangers...even though knitters are in general a pretty friendly bunch.
So tonight, I went to the first Clintonville Knit Night set up by the Cap City Knitters on Ravelry. I so love Ravelry! There were only three of us, but we had fun. Only to find that three other people from the group had also been there but in a different part of the cafe! Oops! Oh, well, it was still lots of fun and at least now it should be easier for us to recognize at least the people from tonight.
While I knit in public all the time, it was very nice to share some knitting time with others. And the food was good, especially the dark chocolate truffle cookie!
Plus I got to see my first Clapotis in person and I want to make one even more now! Of course, I don't have the right yarn for the project...hmmm...

I'm debating on going to a knit night around here myself. I am like you...not a big "joiner with strangers". The worst that can happen is I hate it and don't go again I guest. At best I make some friends and have fun.
